Good strategy holds you in place when the current gets strong.
The Story Behind Future Anchor Hub
Future Anchor Hub was founded in 2017 by Harry Caldwell after a decade working inside large organisations. The name came from a conversation with a client who described good strategy as 'something that holds you in place when the current gets strong.' Harry had spent the previous eleven years in corporate strategy roles, most recently leading a restructuring programme for a mid-sized manufacturing group. He left that role with a clear sense of what independent advice could offer that internal teams rarely can: the freedom to say the uncomfortable thing without worrying about the next performance review.

Il mestiere
The early years were deliberately small. Harry took on two or three engagements at a time, worked from a rented desk in a shared office, and turned down projects that did not fit the areas where he felt he could genuinely add value. That discipline shaped the practice. By 2020, the majority of new work was coming through referrals from existing clients, which remains true today. The focus narrowed over time to strategy, organisational design, and succession. The three areas where an outside perspective tends to matter most and where the consequences of getting it wrong are hardest to reverse.

Harry Caldwell spent eleven years in corporate strategy before founding Future Anchor Hub in 2017, having led restructuring programmes for mid-sized manufacturers and a brief stint advising a regional development agency on inward investment. He holds a postgraduate qualification in organisational change and has a particular interest in how family-owned businesses navigate succession. Outside the office, he keeps a vegetable plot that he tends with the same methodical patience he brings to a client engagement. He writes most of his thinking in longhand before it reaches a screen.
